Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.6/100, a mean average of 76.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.4.

Of course you have the 90s psychedelic classic, She Don't Use Jelly, but the rest is just as catchy and noisy. I love how weird these guys can get, but they can streamline their sound like this and it works wonders.
Alternative rock noise pop neo-psychedelia noise rock
Not entirely sure why I rate this above Yoshimi but I just do at the moment. It's probably even more silly with She Don't Use Jelly a clear example.

Flaming Lips were the best in the 90s IMO because they found their perfect sound. This is their second best album under Clouds. It's raw/distorted, it's weird and catchy as hell.
Although "A Priest" was really good, I reckon this is the Lips' first great moment. All the noise comes together deliciously in a poppier format.
An enveloping gloominess clouds The Flaming Lips' "Transmissions From The Satellite Heart", and in turn it forms an improvement over the fun but indulgent "Hit to Death in the Future Head". More than anything, this record reminds me of the splendid "In a Priest Driven Ambulance" with its layers of noise rock and melancholy lyrics complete with interesting little flourishes. Definitely worth listening to.

another brilliant work from the flaming lips
This comment is beneath your viewing threshold.
Not quite as brilliant as their later records, still, tranmission's, is a very enjoyable album. All the quirks they would master on later LP's are there, but the album's strength is the fact that it's a lot more ragged and raw than the later LP's would become. An underrated Flaming Lips album.
Clouds and Soft are better albums but this one always gets to me. Pilot Can and Moth are just terrific.
