This 4 CD and 1 DVD box has really been put together with respect for the group and their music. The group's first 8 albums are all thoroughly represented with 5-8 numbers each and I can not immediately think of significant omissions. Of course there is something special about the first two albums and the first incarnation of the group, which unfortunately was so short-lived, and someone might miss a song like "Private Life", which in turn can be found in a live version.

On the other hand there is a wealth of rare single tracks and other rarities, of which many are of superb quality. Among the early numbers, it is worth noting that the fine B-side Cuban Slide is included.

Several songs recorded for various tribute albums also belong to the essential choices. The Beatles' "Not a Second Time", Hendrix' "Bold As Love" and "Every Day is Sunday" by the Smiths are stand-outs.

There are also a really fine outtakes from most albums. Here is worth highlighting "Tequila" from the "Learning to Crawl" sessions, "Angel of the Morning" and "Every Mother's Son" from the "Last of the Independents" sessions.

"Back Down" and "California" are two other fine unreleased tracks here deservedly finally officially released.

Despite the many line-up changes along the way there is a surprisingly consistency in the songs.

The 64 pages book has particular focus on Chrissie Hynde (not surprisingly), but also has interesting information about the many numbers.
