Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.6/100, a mean average of 71.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.1.

The Norwegian trio's second album did not meet the expectations of dance music fans. After the stunning synthpop debut in 1985, "Take On Me" was sung everywhere and on all continents, and everyone wanted the banquet to continue. The second studio album "Scoundrel Days", each track of which surprised. It turns out that Norwegian musicians are not as simple, naive and lyrical as they seem. It's a pretty grim release. Judge for yourself the most successful single from the album (No. 50 on the Billboard Hot 100) is called "Crying Wolf". The success of the first record was a big problem for the Norwegians. The bar turned out to be very high, so they went according to the album title. After walking along the peaks, we decided to look for luck at the bottom. A-Ha just jumped out of the pack and showed that they are a more complex and ambitious band. (Edited)

Probably A-ha’s best album although Hunting High and Low runs it close. As a follow up to that Album A-ha took a slightly different turn with style. A far heavier and more serious sound compared to their debut, but it worked really well. All songs are decent except Maybe Maybe with Manhattan Skyline and I’ve Been Losing You the standouts.

This is an album/CD I can still listen to in 2019 and still enjoy from start to finish. Favourites are track 3,7 & 10.

For me there isn't a lot to choose between this album and Hunting High and Low. Both are excellent but quite different albums, I would say this one has a slightly harder less pop edge to it. 'Cry Wolf' and 'Manhatten Skyline' are my top tracks.

A very typical 80s pop album, I don't hear any identity in this music.

Easily their best album, includes the best song they ever did (Manhattan Skylines) and 8 other great tracks. The only flaw is the boring Maybe Maybe, which is what people who don't like A-ha think A-ha are like, unintelligent pop fluff.

Seem to remember this being good and their best. Not heard it in many a year only the stuff on greatest hits which I have on cd. Have this on vinyl must did it out! They are looked on as a.joke band by the cool police who cite the overrated prefab sprout as an 80s highlight and laugh when you mention aha. Btw check john peels online record collection and you will find this amongst the obscurities. Vindication!
