A-ha are the dictionary definition of pop-fluff; still aiming for mass market appeal, but standing far above the made-for-the-charts commercialised rubbish that is more common.
A number of stellar pop hits, generally good albums and a certain style that really adds some brilliant uniqueness to this quintessential synth-pop and new wave band.
Absolutely one of the most memorable acts of the 80s and one who's music still holds up without a hitch today.

Great band, The Sun Always Shines on TV is my favorite song by them.
Amazing band with brilliant songs
I remember their video being popular, but like much of the 80's, I didn't like the sound.

@ffudnebbuh First of all, if you haven't heard the albums, you shouldn't have rated them with 25/100. Second, if you're interested in music, the fact that they appear so high in ratings (as you, yourself claim) should maybe move you towards giving it a shot and hearing those albums?

As good as a pop band could do.
They are a textbook example of corporate marketeers getting their target audience wrong. What happened was that they got some hunky scandinavian guys and thought to themselves "this is a boy band. Let's market them towards teenage girls". #Fail.
It took a few years and a lot of commercial decline BUT nowdays they are recognized as a major influence to a lot of contemporary bands, including coldplay, keane and the like...

Love A-ha. One of the best bands
They are only known as a "one-hit wonder" here in the USA, but everywhere else in the world they are huge. One of the best bands Americans don't know!
