So recently I’ve been ploughing through Bojack Horseman and it’s at the end of Season 2: Episode 10 where the single, “Parade” plays. Since I watched that episode last night, I’ve had “Parade” & “All My Life” firmly logged in my brain. It reminded of being 16 and hearing Morby for the first time, shortly after this album came out. This album, of course, was my entry point into his work and I’ve never turned back. Even on the first round of completing “Still Life” you can hear Dylan’s influence all over this record, as if he were a presence or one of Morby’s characters. This Morby at his least flashy and competitive but it’s also him at his most essential. If anyone’s looking for a solid folk rock record in the modern day than this & “Singing Saw” are a great place to start.
