This has the sound of the late 60's all over it. Many shades of 60's psych but with a slight Britrock feel added. Still love the Indian influence that oozes through.
A lot of the time, an album grabs hold of you not because it's artistically brilliant but because it fulfilled a need at a particular time. Back in 1998, when Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts was released, I had a daily commute along the coast road from Worthing to Portsmouth. It was about 75-90 minutes each way and like all commutes, it quickly got boring. At the same time, I was suffering from a lack of decent, new, uplifting music. Then Kula Shaker's two albums came along, and they became my go-to driving listens. Not because they're brilliant albums, or they have something artistically significant to say, but just because they make me happy! And that's what music is for, isn't it?
Lots of different genres covered in this album but done in a good way
This has to be one of the most overlooked albums of the 90's. It is Superb from the moment it begins till it ends. Great Psychedelic Rock with Indian influences Sprinkled in combine to make great melodies and riffs whihc will scream from speakers and immerse anyone catching a single note.
All this coupled with my favourite cover and sleeve for any album ever (even better than DSOTM)and this album cements itself with a permament position in my top 10 albums for the rest of my life.
