Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 10% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.7/100, a mean average of 75.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.5.

I like this album , the songs are reasonably good. It doesn,t have the creative edge that the four previous albums had.
gems like 100 years ago, and winter, carry this album
Mon album préféré des Stones. J'en entends déjà dire "Et Let It Bleed, Et Exile onMain st.", oui admettons, mais cet album est le premier Stones que j'ai écouté et ces celui qui m'a fait aimer leur musique.
Probably the most underrated Stones record, not a single dull song. My only real complaint is what the hell is an awesome album like this doing with such an awful cover like that?
Best song(s): 100 Years Ago; Coming Down Again; Doo Doo Doo Doo(Heartbreaker); Angie; Can You Hear the Music
70's Stones were the best! Rating (80.00)
Not the Stones best, but nowhere near their worst. Some good cuts on the album, though the production save for some songs has a sterile vibe to it that it not as lively as previous records.
Underrated, but not very underrated...
A vastly underrated Stones album, simply because it's constantly compared to their golden age 4 album run prior. This has some of Mick Taylor's best guitar work and the band shows some serious energy in general. Some of the criticism seem to be about the songs sounding like lazy jams....well that was half of Exile on Main Street for goodness sake! I think it's ridiculous that Their Satanic Majesties Request is ranked several spots higher than this. Every sensible Stones fan ranks that album as one of their worst, it's only worth the singles and the trippy album cover.

I concur with the general sentiment: good but not outstanding and impossible to be so given the previous four. I never tire of Hearbreaker; mick and the boys really brought it on that one. .
