Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 83.9/100, a mean average of 83.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.6.

A masterpiece, arguably the #1 Lp in the history of progressive rock. But what of King Crimson, you might ask? The elites love KC... deep, brooding and complex. This album stands above, to me, personally, because of the more melodic structures.

Roundabout is up there with Stairway to Heaven and Bohemian Rhapsody for me! It's mind boggling to think that such an incredible composition could even be written! Yes was known for their albums, but that song is really what cemented them in Prog history.

This album is an amazing collection of complex yet accessible tunes. Roundabout and Heart of the Sunrise in particular are amazing. My only complaint is that the songs don't flow very well together, in my opinion.

Phenomenal! Why is this band not rated higher than they are?

I don't think this album flows super well, but the individual songs are so amazing that it still shines as a masterpiece. Roundabout is obviously great and the song that non-yes fans will recognize, but Heart of the Sunrise blows my mind even more.

A progressive rock masterpiece. Amazing how far music progressed from the Beatles to This in only 5 years.

Music kinda gets lost in all the virtuosity/chaos, kinda like a typical Van Halen album. They also have poor taste in symphony in my personal view.
