I listened to this album a couple of times a year ago, and I forgot how good it actually is, VERY solid for a debut album.

Despite the somewhat patchy production, there's an undeniable charm to Marina's debut as it manages to boast both undeniable personality as well as an ambitious fusion of pop styles, which sometimes gets stunted a bit by the rudimentary execution but otherwise is quite charming despite the sonic limitations.
The family jewels has plenty of duds and honestly wouldn't suffer if a few songs like "I am a robot" were cut. Despite this there is a lot to love on here. The fusion of baroque and electro pop creates a memorable sound. Marina's voice and lyricism do a good job creating personality.
