Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 14% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.3/100, a mean average of 73.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.3.

In a Priest Driven Ambulance suffers from a serious lack of cohesion, especially for a supposed concept album. Lyrically, every song fits into a puzzle, yet musically it is all over the place. Nothing sounds truly awful, but nothing feels like the same album. A good example is from track 8 to 9, it feels like whiplash. Other than that, this is a fine enough offering from the Flaming Lips.

Yup, this is where The Flaming Lips really kicked it up a notch.

Right from the off, something is different about The Flaming Lips. The record quite literally sounds huge, far huger than their first three LPs (which are not to be dismissed). If "Telepathic Surgery" was the Lips dipping their toes into the darkness, then "In A Priest Driven Ambulance" is an outright plunge.

Interessante questa miscela di rock a volte furioso a volte acustico, sempre con il marchio della psichedelia ben impresso.

awesome and eclectic. A modern noise-rock masterpiece. Equal parts insanity and heartfelt balladry, sometimes at the same time
