Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 75.5/100, a mean average of 73.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.4/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 18.3.

Often fun, but very hard to take serious. They have their place, but it's not a big one.
The band are named after an aeroplane, other bands named after aeroplanes are U2 and The Blue Aeroplanes
Fun fun fun... Creative, danceable mess. Sometimes gets a little trite, but if you stick with the gems you're good.
Wild Planet was for me their best album alongside their debut album
THE B-52's, COSMIC THING, and...yes...BOUNCING OFF THE SATELLITES are the three must-haves of this group. Kate and Cindy are two girls that can really sing! And Fred? Fred is just so...well..off-beat. This retro-chic new wave surf pop delight is absolutely addictive. From COSMIC THING, be sure to listen to "Channel Z" and "Roam" along with the over-played, but still funky-as-hell, "Love Shack." From the debut, check out "Planet Claire," "52 Girls," "Lava," and (no surprise here) "Rock Lobster" (the song that actually made use of the same types of crazy noises that Yoko made 10 years earlier). Also, do NOT dismiss BOUNCING OFF THE SATELLITES! "Summer of Love," "Girl from Ipanema Goes to Greenland," "Wig," "Theme for a Nude Beach," "Detour Through Your Mind," "Housework,"...damn...that album, which is aften overlooked because of the the tragedy surrounding it, is filled to the brim with catchy, poppy, fun, and infectious. Sure, the other two albums are more popular...but this one definitely contains some of their strongest work! I'd recommend it highly for any B-52's fan, new wave fan...or the person that has never listened to the B-52's. BOUNCING OFF THE SATELLITES is a wonderful introduction to the B-52's and absolutely captures their spirit more than any of their other releases.
