Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 15% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 77.2/100, a mean average of 75.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.6/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.7.

Their first album is the best. The rest has also few good tracks, but not too much.
2 pretty good but not amazing albums (Self Titled and Version 2.0). Version 2.0 particularly was a favourite of mine at the time it came out. Since those albums though, all I have heard (which is not everything they've released, admittedly), has been forgettable. Shirley Manson made a great contribution in the 90s though for women in alternative rock, along with Alanis, Tori, P.J., Fiona and Bjork.
Two great albums, one OK... after that, I can't honestly say I've paid attention. I guess their sound is synonymous with the 90s, and has difficulty translating out.
This is a band with a distinct ability to pen great hits. The albums are nice collections too, although the tend to sound a bit too much on the "polished" and overproduced side...
Any group with Butch Vig in it is fine by me. Not to mention Shirley Manson.
