Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.8/100, a mean average of 71.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.8.

First album was outstanding. Second album was OK. Third album (being this) continued the downhill trajectory. Down scaled the rock element, went more with a commercial pop shine. Stick with the first two albums. (Edited)

Their best album. An eclectic, challenging pop rock album. Sonically, the album has a broad variety including acoustic guitar music, power pop, trip hop, electronica etc. What unites the album sonically is it's clean pop production that gives the whole album a "bright and shiny" feel. Lyrically, the album explores queer characters as well as the very personal aspects of lead singer Shirley Manson's life. Themes are bittersweet, with lyrics telling tales of heartbreak, ostracization, depression, and the overall beauty that lies within tragedy. It is both Garbage's poppiest album and their most experimental album. Ridiculously underrated.

The last Garbage album I bought - lost their edge on this I felt - all a litle too mainstream. Nothing like the impact of their debut.

Untouchable is the standout track. The rest are OK - still decent, but not near the standard of the first two albums.
