Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.5/100, a mean average of 68.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 22.6.

My favourite of their albums after Scoundrel Days, this album is filled with brilliant songs. The only song I don't particularly like is "The Way We Talk" , but that is only a couple of minutes long, so it isn't really a massive problem. The best track is the low key closer "Seemingly Non-Stop July", a very nice song that really allows you to digest the album that you've just heard. Other than that the title track and "I Call Your Name" are fantastic.

Good new wave/pop rock album. Best 10 songs average is 85,7/100 and the album can get good 85/100. Best and full scoring song is well known "Crying in the rain", followed by "I call your name" 90/100 and next "Rolling thunder" 85/100. All other songs in the region of 75-80/100.

Exceptional. A departure from their early formula but also a stunning return to form after their difficult third album.
