One of the most consistent bands in my opinion. Very distinctive and great lyrics. Prefer their first two albums over the more lauded Brothers in Arms, but not really a weak LP in those first 5 releases.

Used to be my favorite band by far. I still like them but they're becoming a little bland as I listen to more and more music.

Pretty underrated here. Knopfler is one of the best guitarists ever and the songs aren't typical 80s shit pop rock, they have interesting stories and fantastic arrangements. Love Over Gold is a masterpiece, Brothers in Arms is the popular stuff, Dire Straits, Communique and Making Movies are also very good imho.
I don't understand how the Dire Straits aren't positioned in the top 10. However, the fact that they are out of the top 100 list is laughable. 118?!? Just WTF...
Did you know that the band once joined forces with Chris Rea & Ben from Curiosity Killed the Cat. They were called Dire Rea Killed the Cat.

Listened to some of their albums, and I am so satisfied. Nothing can go wrong if you have one of the greatest guitarists of the history. First Knopfler and then the mortals.
