Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. This is an absolutely great eighties list! Hounds of Love, Tim, and Sign 'O' the Times are a terrific top three. We evidently agree on Purple Rain, Murmur, and Doolittle, as well. Plenty of surprises and challenging selections here, lots of stuff to sink my teeth into.
I know you like recommendations, so I'm wondering if you've given Camper Van Beethoven's Key Lime Pie a spin. It's quirky and a bit all over the place in terms of genre, but based on your other selections it might be your cup of tea. Clever lyrics and very fresh-sounding. Give it a try if you haven't already!
And thanks for the comment on my seventies chart! Nice to know there are other humans out there thinking about great music.

Maybe "Sign 'o' the Times" was THE album of the 80`s?!!
Tom Waits on top with 5 albums!
And than all the way from hardcore to ambient!

Interesting to see This Mortal Coil so high, but no Cocteau Twins or Dead Can Dance. Also a nice mix of metal and punk thrown into the mix.
