Top 40 Greatest Music Albums
by G8tr1522

IMPORTANT:
~I like to use vulgarities, so if that offends you, don't read my comments please.
~I'm not really sure where to start to make a concise list that pleases everyone, so obviously, these are just my personal favorites. They're the albums that I'll never ever get tired of. Also, after the top 15 or so, everything gets kinda relative as far as ranking.
~I get jaded really easily unfortunately, so I have a hard time enjoying universally acclaimed albums and bands like the Beatles or The Who or something like that.
~The star ratings are like an overall score; a rating that I believe everyone should give the album.
~After working with this list, I realized I have a fetish for dissonant music, particularly, awkward harmonies, noise, and especially complex and syncopated rhythms; syncopation is a common trope throughout my comments. I also really like music to sound melancholy. If you make a recommendation, keep this in mind.
~This list definitely reflects my most current opinion. Over time, albums will drop down; for example, I got into post-rock and noise-rock a year ago, and I think it's the shit. But I used to also think Radiohead was the shit, and wayyy back, I thought Yes was the shit. So expect change over time.
~I'm no jazz aficionado, I just used to listen to a lot of modal and hard-bop stuff back in the day.

Many journals criticize this album for being very non-cohesive. It is. But this is the most detailed, intense work that RDJ has ever released. Some of the most passionate electronic music can be found on this album, and it becomes even more beautiful knowing that he compiled this as a tribute to his homeland in Cornwall. If you took ANY song off this album, and made an entire album sonically similar to that song, it'd be a great album; Every song always leaves me wanting more. Especially "Kid A". That's their best work IMO. [First added to this chart: 08/31/2013]

Yep. It's seriously my second favorite album by them.
I'm hard pressed to find other music similar to the opening track and "Pulk, Pull Revolving Doors".

The title track is extremely representative of RDJ's more challenging works: Extremely technical, but the song is tied together with the cute melody at the beginning. [First added to this chart: 10/03/2014]

"Meinheld" is an intense flurry of raspy d.n'b. that becomes a somber, but still boisterous piece. There are some really detailed sounds and some great rhythms on this one. Very aggressive at times too, which I certainly appreciate. [First added to this chart: 10/03/2014]

I know this will upset some people, but I enjoy this version more than the original. The recording quality really brings out the bass opposed to the original version, and it makes the band sound more in sync. Joey Calderazzo and Branford just kill me; I can sing along to every solo. Even still, I prefer the original version of "Psalm". [First added to this chart: 08/31/2013]

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 9% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.1/100, a mean average of 89.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 4.5.

Good chart! Very original and great variety of music. However, the drastical changes make me think, i mean, you've changed the whole chart! Maybe you have to give some time to some things. This is my opinion, of course, maybe you are really sure about your decisions, I dont know. It is only an advise.

Thats an extremely self-contained and exiting chart.
I don`t think that the classical albums (like Kind Of Blue) are a cliche.
There are so many albums (like Kind Of Blue) meaning a lot to me personal wich are considered to be "classics".
I hope I`ll find the time to check out some more unknown albums of your chart.

This is a rad list. Just a shot in the dark here, but if you're open to Drukqs, I'd recommend searching out "Hrvatski - 2nd zero fidelity mandible investigation" and giving that a listen on youtube or wherever.

I don't want to rate this till you get a chance to expand, but the albums and chart in general so far are fantastic. I'm quite intrigued to see what else will find its way in here once you hit 40. Welcome aboard, I'm sure you'll fit right in here!
