Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by blueandthemoon (2022)
First of all, I appreciate any feedback about my chart, but I would like to explain one thing. I realize most of my 100 greatest albums are from the 00s and 90s, and that was intentional. Those are the albums that are most important to me. However, if you look, I have created charts for every decade, 1950s-2010s, so my taste is by no means limited. But if I'm honest about my own favorite albums, the chronological composition of the chart will stay pretty similar. But again, I appreciate the feedback and realize some people have have different opinions about this.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 86.3/100, a mean average of 86.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.3.

A good, fairly diverse chart. Like you say - very 90s/00s focussed - would be good to see some more early classics in there. Quite a few in common with my 100. Stoked to see John Butler Trio included - great album and great Aussie band!

Good chart. I really expected more Radiohead as i first read your description. But i was really was surprised by your choice good taste.
This chart is pretty good. Maybe one day it will make you famous. Seems like a long shot I know, but we can't say for sure. Only thing is, you put in 6 Elliott Smith albums which is great, but you left out my favorite, "From a Basement on the Hill". What gives, man? Please notify me when/if you become famous.

Noice!

I happen to love the Sea and Cake and Minus the Bear, so those alone were nice surprises. Lots of other great stuff here too.

Some of the people here have already said it; good chart, but it's hard to believe there was only 10 albums before 90s that are good. At the Drive In albums are spot on though! Just keep exploring music and you'll find so many great albums

I like your chart a lot. I am just getting into Elliott Smith, John Mayer and Sufjan Stevens. There are quite a few albums I recognise, all the ones I knew I liked. And now there's a few artists I would like to get into. Nice work overall.
Great to see so much Elliott, My Morning Jacket, and others.
I really love some of the artists you include, but fully agree with sssvnnn : there's so much more around.
