Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 2% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 80.9/100, a mean average of 79.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.1/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 16.9.

The White Stripes were an American rock duo formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan, consisting of Jack White (songwriter, vocals, guitar, piano) and Meg White (drums, vocals).
They became one of the most iconic bands of the early 2000s garage rock revival. Here’s a quick breakdown of their legacy:
The Look: They famously stuck to a strict color scheme of red, white, and black for everything—from their outfits to their album covers.
The "Sibling" Myth: For years, they told the public they were brother and sister. In reality, they were a divorced couple who decided to keep playing music together. Jack even took Meg’s last name (White) when they married.
The Sound: Their music was raw and minimalist, blending punk, blues, and folk. They avoided modern technology, preferring analog recording equipment.
The band officially split in 2011, with Jack White moving on to a successful solo career and Meg White stepping away from the spotlight.
The White Stripes are the first band I ever really loved and they will always hold a special place in my heart. I'll never forget the first time I heard Ball and Biscuit when I was 7 years old.
First three albums are fantastic then jack found production quirks and each album got worse. Hard to judge this band on a whole as the dichotomy between the two eras is drastic.
One of the few bright spots for rock in the last 20 years. Their debut shows potential but the songwriting isn’t quite there yet. De Stijl shows improvement with Hello Operator a classic track. White Blood Cells is their 1st great album followed by their masterpiece Elephant. Get Behind Me Satan is quirky and experimental but works very well. Icky Thump is perhaps even more experimental but is another great album. Jack White continues on...
Probably the greatest two piece of all time. Jack White is an absolute genius and a giant of amongst men.
They were somewhat innovative, combining Blues and Punk. Their style in general is really awesome, and nothing they released is bad.
Accomplished a lot for what they were, I find that impressive.

Love 'em! Especially Elephant and White Blood Cells, which are some of the best albums of the time period.
