Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

I like my pop noisy and my noise poppy.
I'll be going through these periodically. I will be updating them with reasonings and some lyrical excerpts.

Pragmatism pining for salvation. Lyrically untouchable. This album has a range of topics so vast most people can relate to it, yet so specific, it will have you thinking its addressing you personally. Conor Oberst succeeds in making an album that is almost unappealing upon first listen, whilst wailing like a fish out of water.. but it got better the next time through it. You keep playing the record slowly piecing together all the references and nuances. This has been my favourite album for over a decade now and I still discover new perspectives on the lyrical content. Its sad, so, try not to cry.
"With my broken heart and my absent God.. and I have no faith. But its all I want, to be loved and believe in my soul" [First added to this chart: 03/10/2014]
Unforgettable. The timbres throughout this record are so meticulously sought it seems inhumanly gorgeous. The four sampled chords in Idioteque alone can bring tears to my eyes. Radiohead is the only band that can make me believe word salad lyrics can be truly profound.
"Red wine and sleeping pills help me get back to your arms. Cheap sex and sad films help me get back where I belong" [First added to this chart: 03/10/2014]
The wordsmith's legacy continues. This album strings top-notch heart-wrenching ballads one after another. You will want a hug when its over.
"The end of paralysis. I was a statuette, now I'm drunk as hell on a piano bench.. and when I press the keys it all gets reversed. The sound of loneliness makes me happier" [First added to this chart: 03/10/2014]
The well established Sigur Ros comes down from the aether and gives us a new earthy, and at times tortured, approach to their post-rock sound. They continue the legacy with great instrumentation and unique production, but opt for more obtainable melodies and more solid themes lyrically. Never would I have dreamed Sigur Ros would make an album I love more than Agaetis.. I'm still pinching myself.
"Í skinninu Yðar á Krækir klónum í Og klórar í" [First added to this chart: 03/10/2014]

Top 100 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.7/100, a mean average of 85.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.7.

Great chart
Really dig this chart and like the descriptions
Good chart
Best chart I've seen...up until Savage Garden and Phantom Planet anyway. Great to see Tusk in there.
I dig this chart a lot. Especially the inclusion of Yuck and Slaughterhouse. Plus some Sigur Ros love is always good
Spectacular chart! Special kudos for:
Iceage -Plowing Into The Field Of Love (3)
Malajube - Trompe-l'oeil (10)
The Antlers - Burst Apart (27)
This Will Destroy You - Another Language (28)
Still magnificent.
There are quite a few albums in there that I love but also others that I can't connect with.
I do like Bright Eyes (though clearly not as much as you).
