Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.8/100, a mean average of 75.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.4.

Another fantastic album musically that has all the diversity and quality you come to expect on a Sigur Ros record. The start of the album is pure brilliance with that 3-track run right at the start blowing me away the first time I heard this record. They really come into their own on longer songs as their musical abilities and quality is really allowed to be shown off. This leads to some delicate and genius instrumentation which can only be sat back and admired by the listener. The rest of the album isn't up to this same level though and I do find the back end of the record feeling quite slow and not engaging me enough for my liking. Despite this, there are still some hidden gems amongst this such as Stormur which has quickly become one of my favourite songs from this group. The all-round performances are just incredible as well especially the vocals once again which sound just as fresh on this record as they did on their first ever release. Overall, this record is more evidence to back up the fact that this group are one of the best in the history of music and they have one of the most consistent discographies I have ever looked into.
Perde um pouco de força no final, mas ainda brilhante.
Such an underrated album. One of Sigur Rós' best.
Even though Agaetis Byrjun is their best album IMO, but this is my current favorite Sigur Ros album.
This album deserves to be higher.
so disappointing. when i heard Brennisteinn and Kveikur, i had very high expectations. but much of the album was just the opposite of what i was expecting. i didn't want any cutesy, coldplay-esque dream-pop songs.
still, Hrafntinna is good, and Blapradur is alright. but i prefer Valtari
Best Sigur Ros record yet. I know.. how preposterous!? This album remains accessible while giving us this new tortured near-hellish type sound all while giving us glimmers of the blissful Sigur Ros we all know and love. This album is tighter thematically too (not sure how many people follow Sigur Ros lyrics considering "()"). There are so many sonic features on this album that should come off as gimmicky (transformer noises Michael Bay would be proud of, flawless harmonization with wolf howls) but are executed so god damn well I can't help but admit its actually awesome. Wow.
I really liked this album. Sigur Ros really brought it despite the lineup change.
