I Love You, Honeybear

Father John Misty

After "Fear Fun", I thought that Father John Misty (aka Josh Tillman) had a lot of potential. He showed himself to be a good songwriter with a good voice and a healthy dose of modern cynicism (though not so much as to come across as overdramatic). "I Love You, Honeybear" seems to be the next logical step for Tillman, and he's written himself a really good album. Stuff like "Bored In The USA" and "The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apartment" really exemplify how good of a songwriter Tillman is. It's worth listening to for the lyrics alone, but the catchy hooks and choruses add even more to it.

Really enjoyed checking out this year chart - the effort you put in to writing up such thoughtful comments puts this chart in a realm of its own. As an observation, I think it is too US-centric. Nice to see 3 Aussie albums make the cut.
