This isn't a list of the best albums ever. This is just a list of my favourite albums. I didn't include jazz albums.
I especially love music that is different from anything else I've ever listened to. To me music is art, and art is self-exprexssion. And, since everyone is different from each other, I think that "normal" music has too rigid rules and it doesn't allow an artist to totally express himself. In music you should be allowed to do whatever you want to do, there are no limits and no rules, and I think every piece should be really different from each other. And if you find it ridiculous or difficult to listen, it's just a problem of custom: quoting Captain Beefheart, "people love melodic music because they've always listened to it that way". Once you're into music which is "different", you just can't do without it and you can't stop listening.

Is there any deepest record by any other artist? If there is, I've not listened to it yet. Rock Bottom digs in the abysses of Robert Wyatt's soul, showing it naked and pure in all its emotions. You can really hear his love for his wife, his anger and anything else he was feeling while recording this. Just perfect.

I first listened to this album because I liked its cover and someone had recommended it to me. Well, I was just listening, but something inside of me seemed to be moving. I don't know what it was, but I know it was one of the most intense things I had never felt. And when in Celebration the music suddendly stopped... well, it was like time itself had stopped. Nothing upsets me as Tragedy does, and there is no other artist that seems to be connected with me as Julia Holter is.

You think New Zeland is a too far-off place to produce good music? You're wrong. Roy Montgomery is just one of the several geniuses to come out of this small country, and he's become one of my favourite artists ever since I discovered him. His guitar sounds just like I think my soul would sound if it had chords. And Now The Rain is like a rainy afternoon: you can't go out, there isn't a lot of things you can do; you just watch the rain and it's wonderful.

There aren't many things I can say that haven't already been said about this album. The Velvet Underground was the first to think of music as it really is: noise, firstly. And beside being without doubt one of the most innovative and influent albums ever, their debut is just beautiful. A sick and dark beautiness.

This is the music that will be playd at my funeral. Joy Division put into music everything that concerns human fear, depression, confusion. They create a kind of desert glacial field where you're the only alive thing. And everyone, sometimes, have to feel alone to be really happy.

This is for me the ultimate hip hop album. In Dalek's speeches there is everything that the genre has developed since its birth: violence, politic, anger, racism. And the industrial beats are possibly the best I've ever heard.

Nothing to say. Just this is the most sincere album ever recorded by anyone, the purest show of sadness and depression that ever was put on a shelf. Tired Eyes and Albuquerque make me cry everytime I put them on.

I love Bruce Springsteen. Don't insult him in front of me or I could beat you up. I love The Wild, I love Born to Run, I love The River... but Nebraska is just his deepest album and the one that gives me most shiver. He confirms to be not only a rocker but also one of the greatest songwriters ever.

Emotions, emotions and emotions again. Mercury Rev's psych-noise is one of the most intense things I've ever experienced. And their melodic talent is even better.

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Although I love to be told about the evolution of music, I am quite informed on it already thank you. I went through my 60s and 70s music phase when that's all the music I listened to. I listened to all the classics of course and I am well aware of how music has evolved but the ones on my chart are the only ones that stuck with me. I don't have an album on my chart because it's "a classic." I have an album on my chart because I like it. Isn't that what music's about?
To be fair, I could make the same argument you haven't listened to enough good albums in the 2000s or 2010s and say you do not know about how music has evolved into today. Just saying...
Your chart just isn't my cup of tea unfortunately.

Great chart, very very good! But it's too much influenced by Scaruffi and this fact penalizes my rating to the chart. I admit I have been influenced by Scaruffi, but I try not to be too much attached to his way of thinking music. Many things he says are right, and I share them completely, but he's not God, so I realize he's too kind with some and too disapproving with some others. If you look at my list there are many albums which Scaruffi praises, but some albums from his list, in my opinion, are not so worthy. One thing delights me: we are the only users in this site who put Luciano Cilio. I hold you in high esteem.

probabbly the most beautiful chart ive seen so far. Ill follow you throguh stuff ihvnt heard yet. im listening bruce springsteens nebraska for the first time because of this chart. im adoring it, never listen to anything by him before. very beautifull record.

I already know Silver Apples, and I like them a lot - they've also been very innovative, being one of the first bands to use electronic in 1968 with The USA. I'll check out White Noise, thank you!
