My earlier comments on Debbie Harry were a bit too harsh, but honestly, I do think her beauty has caused Blondie to be over-rated, then and now. That said, this is a great pop album - full stop. They may have emerged from the New York New Wave and ridden on the crest of the British one, but this isn't protest or politics - it's slightly sardonic, but ultimately feel-good pop, for those too cool for Abba or GREASE, their main rivals in the charts of the time. Thoroughly enjoyable, though, especially the superior disco of 'Heart Of Glass' - which seems somehow apt.
