Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I might have looked at this chart many years ago, but on second look I really like it, even with very little in common with my own chart, a number of artists I have no taste for whatsoever, and an absence of notes.
The grouping of artists is quite unlike anything I have seen, and as others have noted there are some artists whose cultural influence is undeniable but who seldom receive recognition.

Great list. Such diversity in all aspects. Primal Scream doesn't get enough recognition. Great to see some Ministry up there as well.

Very good chart with some Miles Davis and you have one Beatles album here and you like Finish bands good to give these bands a chance. And yeah you have much more primal scream and ween here interesting.

There are some great selections here!! I rate 95, due to the inclusion of two Kamashi Washington albums, which I judge as a bit exaggerate, but this is just my personal opinion.
