Best industrial metal album of the year
"Who am I trying to impress?
Who could care less?"
When this album came out I had not really heard anything like it before, apart from the NIN debut, and considering I loved Pretty Hate Machine as well I thought I was going to get right into industrial music, but as it turns out Ministry (especially this album) are an outlier. Credit to them for making an album I love in a genre that's just a bit too much for me. Here they mostly get the fast, thrashy, industrial metal just right, and even when they slow it down a bit, as in the gothic tinged Scarecrow it's till great. I could do without the experimental noise of last two tracks, but the other seven songs are so good it doesn't matter by then.
