Another one of the hip BEA bands/critic darling bands that is exactly where they belong, IMO. A strong top-20 band. (Edited)
I've been a huge R.E.M. fan since I bought my first album of theirs, Murmur, Back in 1983 from the fantastic Rough Trade West in Notting Hill. Loved them then, love them now,
Document is their finest achievement amongst so many phenomenal albums that they have produced over such a long career, One of the true great bands of all time (Edited)
Having just done a complete review of REM albums ~ my overall judgement is that they are OK - a few excellent songs and a couple of better than average albums in the early 90's. I didn't find their 80's albums all that interesting - but I can appreciate how their music would affect different people in different ways. (Edited)
