This chart has one rule: one-entry-per-artist (otherwise Floyd, Psykovsky & Neubauten would dominate the top 20). At some point I'll increase it to a top 100 so the likes of La Femme, Vangelis, Basinksi, Godspeed with classic grunge/metal like Soundgarden, Nirvana, Metallica & Pearl Jam and the rest get a look-in.

Liam Howlett conjured magic here and he was never able to repeat it. Away from the shouty electropunk of everything from 1996 onwards or dated rave stylings of everything before 1993 we have ageless high-end breakbeat-techno, still sounding like the future even today almost 25 years later, especially Break & Enter, Speedway, The Heat The Energy and the Narcotic Suite. Best track: Speedway, also including the ambient-bleeding into The Heat The Energy

The actual best band to come out of that Britpop era. Six is ballsy progressive rock with both emotional & intellectual heft. Rule of thumb here is the longer the song, the better it is! Best: Cancer

The Swedes' addictive maiden album is brilliant, but Chemistry Lab took the raw folk-punk sound of their debut and turned it into something shiny & experimental. Is avant-folk a genre? Lovely funny hectic & even some beautiful energies here. Best fun: The Fungus is among us, I got it from a cat, a mangy cat, looked like it could give you a disease...and it did!

They dug deep here and found their best work...by far. It's the darkness that adds depth to the overall quality here, missing from the Chem Bros other albums. Best: It Doesn't Matter...brutal!

HAVE IT! I believe this album is responsible for my perma-tinnitus, but I still love it anyway. Apparently the hardcore Slayer faithful aren't so keen, but I put this down to a blind loyalty to Dave Lombardo. Bostaph's drumming for me is next-level, and everyone is on fire, Araya is at his most infectious. Best: 213

Blowback & Maxinquay have very fine songs indeed, but Nearly God has a special smooth soothing feeling to it and as such works as a complete album. Best: Keep Your Mouth Shut

The mid-90's British EDM-scene boasted an embarrassment of riches, and when Born Slippy hit Underworld were very much at the forefront. Their unique style (longform-poetry with techno) matured nicely here, with long proggy numbers, some acid breakbeats and the best track being the sublime Confusion the Waitress.

Mezzanine is an impressive piece of work, with plenty strong songs. It might not have the smooth flow of Nearly God or the avant-stylings of Third, but it has proper heft and muscle, so if you're in the mood for that then this heavy trip-hop album is for you too. Best: the title track

As you gain points, your best list will allow more albums. At some point, you are allowed 100 albums and other charts. Also this is exciting since you have new stuff. But if you want more point, edit the albums you have on the list. You will get there in no time. Also welcome aboard.
