Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by zwiebel Unknown

So after browsing couple of BEA charts from other users and seeing how ppl tend to stack their top picks with only few bands i decided to take a little bit different approach to my chart to acknowledge more artists than just my favorite band. Here is the key:

1-10 my personal fav albums of all time
11-20 my respects to the timless influentional albums/artists that i still enjoy listening to
21-30 best non english albums
31-40 best pop/alt pop/ pop rock albums
41-100 rest of my fav albums with pretty loose order

My personal taste in music is mainly 90s/early 2000s rock/grunge , however i still tried to find some space for rock pioneers or maybe even some artists from other genres

@ Moondance - I appriciate the constructive criticism and honesty. Putting 10 Faye's albums in top 100 is obviously a stretch that im aware of. i tried to make as diverse and objective list in my top 40 picks and i used the rest of the chart to boost and expose my favorite artists , that i feel are somehow underappriciated on this site - Faye (and silverchair that imo aren't appriciated enough outside australia) falls especially on this cathegory since she is one of the most famous asian superstar, yet she is completly overlooked by western audience (including BEA community) - once I will see that she gets some more fans on this site i will have to tweak my chart a bit accordingly - for now i tried to squeeze as many extra points for her as possible, without distorting my chart massivly (read it as: i used the bottom of my chart for it, instead of placing more of her albums in my top picks knowing that they not necesarly deserve the spots)

@ DommeDamian , Larcx13 , Johnnyo , BraddlesHendo , Rm12398 , tk421ucopy - thanks for kind words and taking ur time to comment my chart :) cheeers!

This album changed the history of the music. it is dark, some songs have a bit popy/catchy melody to it, but it still sounds fresh after almost 30 years [First added to this chart: 09/18/2019]

When i'm not listening to rock (or grunge) I am probably listening to Final Fantasy music - this couple hour long musical masterpiece from Uematsu has no weak tracks on it and listening to it can bring to you all kind of emotions - from going to the greatest and dangerous adventure of your life through some chillout melodies to subtle romantic nostaliga. Even critics who are not into video gaming or dont like FF as a game, acknowledge how good this soundtrack is [First added to this chart: 09/18/2019]

Underrated post-grunge band. Many critics say they just copied nirvana and as much as u can hear the influence, they realy explored the sound nirvana introudeced in '91 and added their own signature twist (f.e track "emotion sickness" sounds nothing like anything from nirvana and still stays within genre) so i cant agree 100% with crits. This album sums up silverchair era from '94 to '99 and is a must hear to anybody who enjoys grunge music. [First added to this chart: 09/18/2019]

I originally used this spot for "live in Astoria" because that is definitly my favorite concert from radiohead , but since it was removed from BEA (only CD's are alowed) i went with PH since it has most of astoria songs anyway and I believe that this album should be in top 10 of 1993 [First added to this chart: 09/18/2019]

I admit I probably rated this album a little bit higher than it should be, but its definitly underappriciated on BEA site , should be in top 10 of 1998 because "Iris" is like one of the most essential songs of the 90s [First added to this chart: 09/18/2019]

As a fan of Blur music I had very hard time deciding if i should go with "Think Tank" which i think is their best album or with "Blur" wich is slightly less consistent, but on the other hand it has "on your own" and "song 2" which are most powerful blur songs [First added to this chart: 03/28/2021]

Now this one is something special for me - I saw Lion king originally in theater as kid in 90s and it was very important experience - the song "Circle of life" made me appriciate life like no other song ever since. I still listen to that soundtrack as an adult and it always brings only positive emotions [First added to this chart: 11/05/2019]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 78.0/100, a mean average of 75.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 29.2.

Second time around, I better appreciate the aim of this chart. Anyone who puts their heart on their sleeve to promote talented artists that fly under the usual BEA user radar definitely gets my vote.

Cool chart, and it's great to see one that's a little different from the typical. Way too much Faye Wong in my opinion. I think she has a nice voice, but I don't think it resonates with me enough to be consistently in my favorites.
That said, I did add a few albums to my wishlist, and any chart with some descriptions is worthy of at least some praise. Kudos

Sorry but couldn't truly get into your chart. Took your advice and listened to Faye Wong - yes she's got a pleasant enough voice but 10 albums in your top 100 seems extreme. I find 4 Silverchair albums in your top 100 to be extreme too (& I'm Australian). OK - we agree on Jeff Buckley (our only album in common). Did like seeing some outliers like Texas, Dido & Linda Perry in your chart and a wider appreciation of music from across the globe (eg outside US & UK)
I respect your choice to create a greatest 100 chart anyway you want to ~ but if I said I found it excellent or great wouldn't be honest with you or with me.

Nirvana, Damien Rice, and Blur all in the top 10 is a plus! It's awesome that you have Sex Pistols, MJ, Eminem, and even The Calling at the bottom. And the descriptions you have for some of those...
