Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Love the grunge choices, not so keen on Green Day (I did love them when I was a young teenager :) ) and some others but a great list! Mellon Collie and Pearl jam albums deserve positive response.

21 albums in common... but I just can't take Oasis seriously. If you took like 10 albums off of this, then it basically would be a chart I'd create myself... 90% of it is very good. Not that we need to have the same tastes, just saying it's very similar to mine (minus like 10 albums).

A good rock chart with a few surprises I don't like anything to heavy but this is your chart and there is enough in it to like than dislike. Nice to see 1999 in there.
