One of the great things about entertainment is it enables you to be somebody else. Even for just for a couple of hours. The baddie. The man with the black hat. And frontman Sebastian Murphy is the perfect foil. A bad man. He "Ain't Nice!" He'll tell you so himself. He'll use you. Store his shit at your house. Reject your romantic notions about living in a "little cabin in the woods together". He don't need nobody telling him "when to go to bed and when to brush teeth."
The music itself is pure nostalgia for me. Bringing me back to Providence, RI in the mid-90s when bands like Thee Hydrogen Terrors, Arab On Radar, and Six Finger Satellite would wreak havoc at some loft's makeshift stage on a nightly basis." On "Toad", they throw some Jon Spencer bad-assness over some Suicide synths. Completely irresistible!

Glad she's liking it! I think it's a solid record. Plenty of fun, and some great melodies. Might even be better than any twee record I heard in 2020. Not sure why the BEA rating is so low. Singapore's twee scene has been really strong the last few years. Sobs, Aspidistrafly, Cosmic Child, and Subsonic Eye have all released records I'd recommend with ease. (Subsonic Eye's 2017 effort isn't as good as this new record, but it's worth a spin— the real gem of the scene is Sobs' Telltale Signs though, that's a fantastic record).
