Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 74.9/100, a mean average of 74.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.8/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 19.0.

Lizzy Grant has contributed more than anyone else to what a pop-star-with-a-persona looks like in the 21st century. As Lana Del Rey, she has set the template for how an artist can be more than just her music and her stage character, but an entire aesthetic in herself.

Evoking tragic opulence, California romance and glorious melodrama, her work has cut an indelible line along what Americana looks like today, celebrating its everlasting allure and capturing the final death of the American Dream. Her back catalogue contains some of the most potent albums and records of the century, her style totally immutable and instantly recognisable.

An artist who represents the unbridled joy and infinite depths of romanticising your life, and whom provides one of the most fully-formed soundtracks to do it with. One of Chamber Pop and Art Pop's greatest living contributors, and someone who will no doubt be recognised as one of the most culturally potent artists of our time in years to come.

Lana Del Rey can be a little hard to understand but she remains one of the best artists in mainstream music today. She has always been boundary pushing and has glamorized this life of sex, drugs and sadness and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Born to Die, her debut album, has a more Hip Hop inspired sound that radiates cool and swagger. There are a couple of busts on this album like Diet Mtn. Dew, Million Dollar Man and Dark Paradise; but, Video Games, Born To Die and Off to the Races almost make up for these with their grand arrangements and spunky attitude.

Ultraviolence, Lana's Magnum Opus, starts off very strong and contains some of her best works like Shades of Cool, Brooklyn Baby and West Coast. The back half of this album however, doesn't compare at all. It all starts to sound similar and the charm no longer there. The Other Woman is a great closer but still doesn't hold up to the first half.

Honeymoon is a bit of a hard listen. Again, the first half of this thing is fantastic. Terrence Loves you, High By the Beach and Freak are the standouts. As you get past Art Deco, things fall apart and left a bad taste in my mouth. Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood might be her worst song to date.

Overall, while she's not perfect she is one of the best ones out there on the mainstream scene. I am always awaiting a new Lana record and I can only wish the best in her future endeavors.

A brilliant light in all genres. People say she's manufactured; who cares if she's playing a "character" to any degree? She is making music that connects to people and makes them feel things. Also people change between 18 & 30. She is an artist.

Ultraviolence is better than Born To Die in the sense that it is much more ethereal and subtle (nay lo-fi) than before. Del Rey is trading classic pop sounds for the lightness of guitars and slow beats full of sexyness which make is work deeper in my opinion.
