This isn't exactly a ranking it's just sort of a good place I can show appreciation for a country that's put out some of my favorite music. Also if you have recommendations definitely let me hear them because I'm always in need of more Japanese music

These guys seem to be abrasive for abrasive sake on first listen but upon further inspection, I've found a sound that I've become obsessed with. It's just raw emotion accompanied by instruments going a million miles an hour in slow motion if that makes sense. Out of this album Silent Girl is my easy favorite but definitely listen to Yuugure No Tori, My War, Ikareta Neet, and 23sai no Natsuyasumi to get started. It's so unique and I love it.
