Halcyon Digest

A bit nondescript, but enjoyable enough with some great highlights. LOVE the dreamy opener "Earthquake," and the gorgeous Pixies-esque extended outro to "Desire Lines." Unfortunately, there are lots of forgettable tracks in between.

It’s a fun album, it’s nice and thought out but it didn’t blow my mind, it felt a bit too similar to other stuff before them (Ben Gibbards for example). It is enjoyable, though, the arrangements are enjoyable and the general vibe is good. I understand the appeal, but not my cup of tea.

Deerhunter once again prove that they can create a fantastic atmosphere and do so with the use of some great songs. The peak of the album for me is Helicopter which is just such a brilliant song. It is catchy and infectious yet hazy and dream like which is exactly what the rest of the album tries to accomplish but they do it the best on this song. I think the closing track is a standout song as well with it bringing the record to a beautiful conclusion. However, there is quite bit of filler on this album as well with it reminding me of Microcastle in places with its dips in quality. Overall, this is the groups best record so far and it has so many great moments on here that will make you want to revisit it frequently.

Halcyon Digest is an album you don’t want to end as it’s roots within dream pop and shoegaze mixed with ethereal indie guitar music send you into a beautiful trance.

Uma base muito boa de rock 'n' roll sobre os efeitos!

Some real standout tracks - Revival, Desire Lines and He Would Have Laughed. But a bit too much filler in the middle.

21st century's indie rock is derivative yet enjoyable at best, whiny and out of touch at worst. This goes in the first category. I'm saying I quite enjoyed it, so don't be mad. But if you told me this was an early '90s British post punk/alt rock album, I would believe you.

The cover of this album sets one up for a very different experience that the one that is delivered. That’s no bad thing, however, as what’s inside is, by turns, delicate, spindly, upbeat, chunky and heart-rending – not necessarily in that order. Strangely, despite the twisting and turning of moods, the album hangs together as a cohesive whole, perhaps by the strength of the guitar lines maintained throughout. Sounds a bit like R.E.M. might if they were more inclined towards dream pop.
