Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A safe and somewhat constrained release that doesn't really hit the spot as much as some of his previous works, but no doubt makes another solid entry into his back catalogue. Individually, quite a few songs show some real promise, but it just never quite gets there as an album.
Sound wise, deadmau5's minimalist house style makes a welcome return, and with different production, it sounds newer and more refreshed. The pseudo-disco style of While 1<2's 'Seeya' is found on 'Cat Thruster', something I did like, while the lead single 'Let Go' is a classic deadmau5 collaboration, and it sounds great.
Other songs of note are 'No Problem', which has really grown on me since I first reviewed the album, and '2448', which really does go hard.
It's not exactly consistent, and flops around a bit with songs like 'Glish' and 'Imaginary Friends'. They don't fit into the album as much as they should do, yet still have a quality and consistency to them.
It's not the most special or most memorable of releases, but it sure does grow on you. One to play on the odd occasion; a good EDM album that certainly proves deadmau5 hasn't lost his touch.

The album is kinda eclectic, touching on big room electro, progressive house, some darker techy songs, and some electronica inspired tracks (My favourites are the more ambient tracks "Snowcone" and "Whelk Then"). In interviews, he's described this as a collection of songs he's been working on, rather than a true album (like while(1<2) was), and I'd have to agree. It doesn't really flow at all, and, as a result, it's not as good as his last release. However, 10 of the 11 songs are really great (2448 does nothing for me), and the album is still worth a listen if you like mau5's music.

Deadmau5 showed signs of brilliance with the opener "4ware", but after that, the album just falls apart.
Am I the only one missing his "Random Album Title" era?
