Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. On paper, this should be great. Emily Haines is a charismatic lead singer with sex appeal and a sweet voice. The band plays great licks and sounds and has solid musicianship. However, in practice, it falls flat. The lyrics are cliche at best, insipid at worst, and the songs lack any kind of memorable structure or melody. Gimme Sympathy is the closest to success. Otherwise, avoid.

This album is just excellent, straight indie pop with several brilliant songs!
A fantastic and accessible album that was understandably their "big hit". No bad tracks, but Stadium Love could be stronger. Gimme Sympathy, Satellite Mind, and Gold Guns Girls are the standouts and I would recommend them to anyone with even a passing interest in indie rock or indie pop

This is a poppy breakthrough album that goes more for appealing than punky. So this is their sellout, then.... so what. Emily Haines deserves to be known... and to set more hearts beating like a hammer, indeed. (Edited)
This is more accessible and as a result more popular. Metric does party music extremely well. A very fun and enjoyable album.
