Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

This is an amazing repertoire of music with tons of albums I haven't heard. Also, I appreciate the range of genres displayed on the list. Congrats!
If you liked Juana Molina maybe you would like Julieta Venegas' album called Bueninvento, check it out.

High high marks for putting Joanna Newsom's Ys at the top. I'd put all of her albums in my Top 10 of All Time if I weren't attempting to be a bit more eclectic. I do think Divers is her best album simply because it is not a double or triple album, but the brilliant classical/chamber-pop arrangements, and the ever-poetic lyricisim of Ys probably has no true complement in the whole world modern folk-pop albums.

Brilliant picks and I love the way you describe the 2000s as your musical 'home' in your bio, a beautiful way of putting something I relate to. Would love to see the inclusion of notes á la your overall chart for a perfect rating.

It's always refreshing to me to hear the perspective of someone who feels totally at home in the musical 2000s, as there are a lot of people my own age who reflexively reject anything released since about 1993, or earlier. There's so much great music from the 2000s, including, but certainly not limited to, Funeral (I know everyone loves that album, but it's for good reason), Boxer, Illinois, Sound of Silver, and many of your other selections. I also really like Night Falls Over Kortedala as a top ten pick, as I think Jen Lekman flies a little too much under the radar on this site. Great choices overall!
