Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.6/100, a mean average of 72.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.8.

It's flawed, but it's still much better than I thought it would be. The filler tracks don't outweigh the Ride classics, my favourites being "Lannoy Point" and "Lateral Alice".
Well it's actualy good! First 3 tracks: Focused, melodic, finely produced. Title track: wonderful ballad ending with the most beautiful shoegaze sound I've ever heard.
Cali: as good as Twisterella. The last track: just great. So, well done !
why did the Slowdive's new album get so much more attention than Ride's ?
This album is pretty good too y'all, give it a listen!
Chapterhouse, Moose, Boo Radleys, Adorable and Pale Saints have yet to reform, so dethguy1, I guess not.
Every shoegaze band making a comeback now?
Well, thankfully it's not a return to the follys of Carnival Of Light or Tarantula. They're still the same band that made those records, but more importantly they're still the same band that made Nowhere or Going Blank Again. To be specific, this is the direction Ride should have taken in 1993, with one eye on the classic records of the past and a foot in the sounds of tomorrow.
Their hippy past still lingers, for instance, if Weather Diaries were an item of clothing it'd be a brown corduroy pair of bell-bottoms but it's a fine album and it's damn good to have one of the best bands of the 90s back.
