Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.9/100, a mean average of 75.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.6.

This was controversial at the time. But today it's a mainstream BLM message.
These guys were so ahead of their times.
Great samples as well. Japanese shakuhachi flute to tons of jazz of course. The production is perhaps more early 1990s than early 2000s. But early 1990s hip hop is amazing, so who cares.
Great and under-rated hip hop record. Very political, so it may sound a bit corny at times but the tracks are still dope. Production is not the best I've ever heard but most tracks have some cool loops that draw in any underground hip hop fan. This is the type of hip hop that isn't for your typical Kanye or Jay-Z fans. They wouldn't get it.
I feel like I'm too white to listen to this album. But incredibly inspiring, revolutionnary album. Sad that they did not had any other classic albums.
Hip hop is by far he best thing on here, a classic track. Never really beenmassive into this album. Too far with the lyrics and the production isn't all that. Listened again recently and lke it less each time.
You'll Find A Way is sick. One of the best tracks on this album is that instrumental, even with stellar tracks like Hip-Hop and I'm an African.
Great hip-hop record. Really solid the entire way through.
Dudes make Public Enemy look like De La Soul. Fantastic beats, thrilling militancy.
So political. The beats are there. This album has an aggressive, yet funky groove to it. The boys have impressive flow. The lyrics are mixed. Always reaching for the profound, they hit the nail on the head often, with biting lyrics pushing the envelope and making your think. However, sometimes it sounds preachy or pretentious, falling short. Luckily, they hit far more often than miss. Side note - how many albums indirectly advocate for assassinating the president?
