Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a mean average rating of 75.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 76.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.2.

The best queen album in my opinion ! A close second is a night at the opera.

Roger Taylor no se quedo atrás y entona las rabiosas “Sheer Heart Attack” y “Fight From The Inside”, mientras que Brian May…

Queen's second best after Night at the Opera, the usual focus is on the first two tracks, but there is no filler on this album, (who Needs You gets close), every track is worth listening to.

This album is much more stripped back yet more 'electronic' sounding in places and the synthesizer was yet to appear on a Queen album. The first two tracks have been played to death but there are some lesser known gems hidden on this album. I particularly like 'It's Late' which provides some searing guitar work complimented by skin splitting drumming.

Queen were a fave as a kid and I'm currently reappraising their albums. This does have 2 or 3 fillers and like the majority of their studio albums it doesn't flow coherently. However, side A is as good a side as they ever did. The last 2 tracks are great. The rest a bit ho hum. Probably the best of the rest after the run of 4 from queen 2 onwards.

Attached to this for sentimental reasons as this is the only Queen album I had when was young and I played it a ton.

Favorite tracks:

Spread Your Wings (A classic Queen deep cut that should have been a hit)

Fight From The Inside (Roger Taylor's jab at punk)

...And ofcourse We Will Rock You/We are the Champions

I don’t regret listening this, but this album is such a bummer. While on A Night at the Opera you can hear that the theatrical sound serves for a big part for a certain sense of humor, on this album it is supposed to sound ‘epic’ or some shit like that. They were taking themselves too serious and you can hear that.

An overlooked piece of work from the Queen's catalogue, probaly their best other than "A Night At The Opera"
