Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 58.5/100, a mean average of 58.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 58.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 24.8.

More mellow and electronic than previous efforts. This departure from their traditional sound works for me
Arguably LP's best album (although any of the first 4 can be considered the best one) and easily their most unique. They completely take a new direction with their sound here like others have pointed out and it works wonders, it's just a shame they didn't stick with it. Waiting for the End is my favorite LP song of all time.
Top tracks
1) Waiting for the End
2) Robot Boy/The Catalyst
3) Burning In the Skies
A welcome change of pace by Linkin Park. The consistence is questionable, as it usually happens with concept albums, but it has some strong moments. I consider this their best album. Overall, 70/100.
One of my all time favorite albums. Extremely underrated. I get frustrated with people who tell me LP fell off after Meteora.
Incandescent and Waiting for the End are beautiful songs, they just don't appeal to the typical LP fan base. The music across the album is phenomenal.
The concept as a whole really works for me; I appreciate the Oppenheimer, MLK Jr., and Mario Savio speeches thrown in to add to the concept of political apocalypse.

Terrible album

They were going in such a great direction with this album. I wish they chased these sounds and themes further. But I am still glad they delivered this album. Waiting For The End is my favourite LP song.
It's not an album in a traditional sense. If you can't accept that, you won't understand it. It's without any doubt in my mind the best work Linkin Park has ever put to record imo.
A very varied album from LP. Some absoulute brilliant tracks, but with a lot of break-up with segues and OK tracks. All in all a good album, but not up there with their best work.

Really underrated and misunderstood.
Many fans including me were shocked with the straightforward pop/rock, emphasis on pop, of Minutes To Midnight. That whole album scaled down the intensity and punch of previous Linkin Park.
A Thousand Suns is generally more mellow too but it is way more creative of an outing with melody and harmony.
I can't give it a 100 because there is too much filler at an attempt for atmosphere and concept. 15 "tracks" shaved down to 10 and this is more fluid album.
All the actual songs are very good. Wretches and Kings is probably the only average Linkin Park song here.
With the closing Messenger and its super simple guitar, Linkin Park highlights the lead singer's vocal range and emotion, trading in youthful punchy bravado for some vulnerability which is a nice change of pace.
This is the black sheep of the LP catalogue but its my favorite.
