This is a relative return to form for ex-Fleet Fox Joshua Tillman AKA Father John Misty following 2017's bloated and ultimately boring 'Pure Comedy' & in fact this album feels bright and breezy in comparison
On this album the self loathing , deprecation and self parody are front and centre and the line between Tillman and Misty has never been so blurred with a collection of great tracks
F.J.M is back with one of the best albums in 2018

Much more musically varied than Pure Comedy, which to my ears is a good thing. There's less of a concept here though, which I'm also fine with. The songs are, as usual, thoughtful, intense, philosophical and hilarious. Jonathan Wilson's production is also brilliant, as always. I really want to hate him but I just can't.
Great variety while still maintaining an obvious connecting thread between all the songs on here. Not the most revolutionary thing FJM has ever produced, but I'm a big fan of it regardless. One of the best releases of the year, no doubt.
In my opinion, this may be his best. At least my favorite.

A really comfortable listen. The voice is smooth and the songs are well written. There is real heart in this.
