Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.7/100, a mean average of 70.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

Björk's weakest release. The ideas are great (though maybe not fully formed), the instrumentation is interesting, it's just a tiny bit bloated and the overall execution feels a little rushed.
This is by far the worst album by an artist that I genuinely like that I have ever listened to (not counting early Chili Peppers albums). It is incredibly disappointing given Bjork's remarkable talent and track record. Her lyrics are at an all-time low, and none of the risks this album takes make any sense. The guest vocalist has an extremely annoying voice too
Good album.
B+
One of Björk's weakest, looking weaker esp in comparison to her previous record "Medulla" which just so happens to be my favourite record of all time , *however* when it's good, it's very good. The first three tracks are uniformly great, and I love "declare independece", but other than that the record really sags. A lot of the energy and blood is completely lost on these barely-there tracks. Nonetheless, it's still worth a listen.
Love this, to hear Antony and Björk's voices calmly clash into each other in The Dull Flame Of Desire and My Juvenile is heavenly
It's one of her worst LPs, but it's still really good. That's a testament to the sheer amount of talent Björk has. After the unbelievably brilliant "Medúlla" (my favourite album of all time), Björk draws from tribal beats and worldly electronica, with a mix of successes and flaws.
The album regresses in both quality and tempo through its middle section, but tracks "Wanderlust" and "Declare Independence" will no doubt stand as two of Björk's strongest songs ever. A mixed bag, but still worth checking out (or just listen to the singles).
Another brilliant Bjork album. Volta, is another re-invention, some excellent new sounds and textures. Great tracks in, invaders, wanderlust(my favourite track), and, the dull flame of desire, a brilliant duet with Anthony Hegarty. Declare independence, is a great pumping dance song. I must confess, there are a few tracks that are a little lacking in melody and direction, but at least 80% is as good as anything Bjork has done.
pitchfork wrote about this album saying that it was björk at her mid-life crisis, disrespectful maybe a little true. f**k pitchfork anyways.
weakest album let's be clear on that, the concept is unclear. it's a very political album we can say.
for me, it's an adult post and a tired vespertine, and maybe a little biophilia and vulnicura in the writing.
best songs are: wanderlust and declare independence, but from i see who you are to hope it seems like a continuous mix so i would add that interval to the best songs.
Best tracks: Wanderlust, The Dull Flame of Desire, Declare Independence, Earth Intruders.
an underrated album, I think it is one of her best
