Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.2/100, a mean average of 72.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.8.

I think of their first 6 albums - i.e. what they released from 62-64 - this is by far the best. Still has some awful filler (e.g. Our Favorite Recording Sessions), but the best tracks have a new level of sophistication, beauty and maturity. I Get Around bears lyrical similarities to their previous surf hits, but the arrangement and production take it to new heights; the title track is surprisingly wistful, like a goodbye to the Boys' surf-pop past; Girls on the Beach, Wendy, Little Honda - great stuff. They would get even better going forward, but this was an encouraging sign of things to come.

The recording sessions and Drive-In nearly derail an otherwise FANTASTIC album. Still their best work up to this point.

All Summer Long is the first Beach Boys album that feels like a serious stab at a complete album; it’s still only 25 minutes long, but there’s lots of substantial material despite only the opening ‘I Get Around’ qualifying as a Beach Boys standard.

A solid early effort - the best of their pre-Today output. We'll Run Away is especially beautiful, and of course I Get Around is awesome.

Another summery beach boys albums. It's typical of their early records that it includes some good stuff, the title track, and especially, girls on the beach, but there's so much filler, especially the totally pointless, our favourite recording session, they obviously we're short on material. Usual, beach boys, corny, harmless, but fun.

A pretty solid effort by the Beach Boys in these early days. Some really good songs like I Get Around and Wendy.

1 and 8 stand out pretty well. The rest didn't grab me much and were pretty average.

Aside from "I Get Around", these songs just aren't that good.
