Interessante curiosità, tra le tante venute fuori in quel decennio eterogeneo che furono gli anni novanta. Nel loro gran darsi da fare in cucina mischiando ingredienti disparati ma quasi tutti con provenienza sixties con grande prevalenza per i funghi (!) i Cornershop ottengono: 1) Due gioiellini di pop quali sono le prime due canzoni del disco, ancora oggi divertenti, ballabili e non così leggere; 2) Di divertirsi quando non di divertire pasticciando con elettronica e psichedelia e con strumenti disparati ( ovviamente il sitar, essendo tra l'altro loro di origine indiana, proprio come la stessa psichedelia… ); 3) Di piazzare in fondo alla scaletta una versione di "Norwegian wood " cantata ( ma guarda ! ) in indiano. E il risultato è ( incredibile a dirsi ) tipicamente anni novanta…
What makes this album unique, of course, is the obvious India influence. It's a really fun and original listen.
One of Cornershops strongest, if not the strongest, album. My gripe with it is I do not understand the inclusion of tracks 7,8 and 9 - they seem to be fillers in an album that has 15 tracks - just get rid of those three and you'd have a more consistent album and I'd probably rate it higher than I have.
It tends to lose the plot at times, but the overall effort is salvaged by some strong individual tracks. "Good Shit" is my favorite.
