Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 82.0/100, a mean average of 80.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

Spiritualized's most perfect record, Ladies & Gentlemen encapsulates struggles through hopelessness, redemption, and the light at the end of the tunnel. Merging space rock with gospel, the album drifts between heavenly clouds, crashing thunder, hypnosis, broken heartedness, in a whirlwind of emotions.

It's like if Blur was more consistent and on drugs. I like it a lot. The title track is brilliant.
My favorite record of all time. The first track is extremely misleading though- expect more blues and gospel and less psychedelic or post-rock.
Yeah, sometimes I really wish this album would sound like Squarepusher or Aphex Twin on one of their genre defying (unlistenable) pursuits. If only the music world was full of alien chants and rhythms, we really wouldn't be able to judge anything based on past experience, instead just take a battering of the senses in the pursuit of new sounds... Music shouldn't be fun, it should be avant-garde and obscure in origins, purely to please the 'difficult' members of society

"Space rock". What a pretentious title, isn't it? Spiritualized is indeed the only band since Pink Floyd to have been that pretentious and, even so, fulfilling all expectations they create. The mixture of choirs and epic themes together with distorted guitars and a punky i-cannot-sing-so-what vocal style couldn't be more genius. May Spiritualized keep this pretentious.
