Unbelievably pleasant. It's almost mind boggling just how nice this is to listen to. The Geese and the Ghost also contains very little vocals, mostly instrumental stuff. Breath of fresh air, to be quite honest. Every song, from the short Chinese Mushroom Cloud to the epic two part title track, seems equally significant to the album, which even albums like Loveless struggle to do.
One of the best solo albums by ex-Genesis members...and there are a lot of them! Reminiscent of Trespass but more mature and better produced
Every note, every instrument, every harmony and melody is pure soul-crushing perfection.
One of my favorite albums and definitely the best album cover ever. It's hard to get through this one without shedding a few tears.
I don't think any album has ever left such a powerful impression on me upon the first listen. I got to "Henry: Portraits from Tudor Times" and the music was getting so emotionally intense I just couldn't take it and I had to come back and finish it later. I tend to only revisit this one when I get a really strong feeling, longing, or memory, because It's not the kind of album I can just keep listening to all the time. The music is pure emotion, so you have to be in the right state for it. The bonus track Master of Time is one of my all time favorite songs.
The first time I tried to listen to this album I had to stop at the third track and take a while to cry, then go back to hear it again several months later when I felt ready. So beautiful.... Also the greatest album cover ever.
This is so good. Very pastoral.
