i wish this album never happened so i could recomand silverchair to anybody without that slight embarrassment
A bit of a letdown after the great Diorama. Young Modern completely sheds any tinge of grunge and is straight sleek pop rock.
The songs here are void of decent hooks and lack the theatrics and sweeping shifts that Diorama's songs had.
Thieving Birds is a great song
The first 3 tracks are solid and Waiting All Day is a lush ballad.
The rest of these songs are predictable. How they sound in their first 20 seconds is how the whole 4 minute song will sound.
Just a bit boring and average. Its 3rd best behind the excellent Diorama and the uneven but still good Neon Ballroom.
Silverchair would go on hiatus after this. Here's to hoping they reunite soon and give it another shot
Mostly good, with some creative and interesting tracks, but all-in-all, too saccharine for me.
modern classic!!!brilhant!!!
When this first came out I ignored it and I am a big Silverchair fan,now I listen to it everyday, it is an amazing effort and has some great tracks, Those Thieving Birds, Straight Lines, If you Keep Losing Sleep and Waiting All Day are the highlights of this album.

Very inconsistent cd...although Those Thieving Birds is one of my favorite songs. And If You Keep Losing Sleep is great as well.
