Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.0/100, a mean average of 75.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.8.

One of my favorite artists and some good rock 'n' roll. He has this ability to rock one moment and the next belt out sensitive ballads. A superb album to listen too, although in my favorite studio album collection is Stranger In Town.

Good partner album to the record next to come, Stranger in Town. Just good ol' bluesy rock with some of Seger's best here—Mainstreet, Rock and Roll Never Forgets, Sunspot Baby, and the timeless title track. A great choice if you're just looking for some good time rock 'n' roll.

Half this record has radio staples (1,2,3,5,6) that are all good, but the other half is just mediocre. Seger has better albums than this, but it's not bad and the hits are worth it.

Gritty rock & roll and tender ballads grace this effort by Midwest legend Bob Seger. Four out of the nine songs here were popular singles of the era. Perhaps growing up in Michigan enhances my evaluation of this album, but "Rock And Roll Never Forgets", "Fire Down Below" "Mainstreet" and the title track are all classics of the 70s and among the best songs of all time. Seger had the ability to rock excessively hard and then pull back as one of the most sensitive songwriters. Simply a superb album.

Last verse of "Night Moves" might be one of the greatest written in rock history.

core American rock; Night Moves & Mainstreet are staples. best work from a[nother] Michigan talent. Later more commercially successful work lacks intimacy this LP possesses

Just a great album full of great songs. No better roadtrippin' music than Bob Seger.
