Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.2/100, a mean average of 74.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

The Prodigy hit the ground running, and Liam Howlett proved that it IS possible to make a great rave album that isn't just a singles compilation.

Pioneering dance music. Still as exciting as when released. Encapsulated the UK dance scene perfectly and that's a decade before the rest of the world cottoned on. Kicks ass with a great sense of humour. Shame on those who rate their following albums higher...you don't get it. Rave on!

A perfect snapshot of the time yet somehow it never manages to sound that dated.

It blew me away when i first heard back in the day. It brings back memories today. Still buzzing with energy.

If there is such a thing, "the prodigy experience" is classic techno. Their debut sticks to simple ideas, fully-fleshed out by classically-trained liam howlett. It's also one of those few albums where, as much as i like the album, there are a number of tracks i actually prefer the remixes of.

I love the music on this one! Wind It Up and Your Love on great songs for when on the move. Everybody in The Place is as fast as they come. The final tracks are excellent too if you can forgive the cheesy vocals in Fire. Plenty on other hear. All tracks sound so different yet so familiar at the same time. I prefer this one to the next two albums (both of which are very good I may add).
